Rule 1: The direction of the plot and construction should face north or east.

According to Vastu, east and north-facing plots are ideal for building residences. Care should be used while planning houses facing west or south.

Rule 2: The Shape Of The Plot Should Be Square Or Rectangular.

Experts recommend that the land on which the home is built be square or rectangular, facing squarely in all four cardinal directions. The ideal length-to-breadth ratio for a building is 1:1, 1:1.5, or a maximum of 1:2. Homebuyers should avoid plots with irregular, oval, circular, or triangular shapes, as well as those with missing corners in the north, east, south, and west. A site with four corners and a square shape is ideal, provided other Vastu standards are followed.

Rule 3: The Shape of the building/structure should comply with the Vastu norms.

The 'Shermukhi' and 'Gaumukhi' shapes are significant in Vastu because they determine the total prosperity and well-being of occupants in a house. A 'Gaumukhi' shape is narrow at the point of entry and broad at the back, whereas a 'Shermukhi' shape is broad at the entrance but narrow at the back. Gaumukhi is recommended for residential properties, whilst Shermukhi is best suited for commercial properties. Similarly, expanded corners (save in the northeast) are not deemed appropriate for residential properties.

Rule 4: Interiors and colors for a house according to Vastu principles.

Dark colors, such as black, radiate negative energy. As a result, try to avoid using dark colors on your home's walls, furnishings, and floors. Light colors, such as pink, yellow, and orange, emanate positive energy and can be employed in home interiors depending on the orientation of the construction area. For example, orange is appropriate for the dining area and cream for the master bedroom (in the southwest).

Rule 5: The placement of objects in the house

Vastu has a few rules for the arrangement of furniture items/objects. 

• The bed should always be placed in the south-west direction of the bedroom.

• Shoe racks should also be positioned in the southwest direction.

• The dining table should always be situated in the north-west corner of the dining room.

• While learning, children should face north.

Home purchasers should also examine the positioning of facilities such as kitchens, toilets, staircases, and main doors, which should not face south or south-west. Finally, property seekers should ensure that the five elements are in appropriate balance in order to get the benefits of Vastu.

Essential Vastu Tips for Residences to Remember.

According to Vastu, a house's entrance is the most essential part of the house. This should be faced east to attract success or north to provide riches. Furthermore, the north direction of the home should be open and unobstructed, as the north direction is recognized for prosperity. 

When it comes to the main bedroom, in addition to facing southwest, you should sleep facing south. It's important to have a clutter-free environment, especially where you sleep. Children's bedrooms should be in the northwest direction of the house and clear of bright colors.

The living room is intended to entertain and welcome guests, so it should provide a strong first impression. First and foremost, make sure it's clutter-free. A tidy environment is more inviting than one with a lot of clutter. Electronics and equipment, such as air conditioners, should be located in the southeast area of the room, while heavy furniture should be maintained in the west or southwest direction. If you have more than one chair in the living room, make sure there are an even number of them.
